Australian High Commission offers new funding for community projects across Solomon Islands. Applications closes March.
The Australian High Commission has opened a new round of funding for the Solomon Islands-Australia Community Partnerships program. The initiative is designed to support community-led projects aimed at improving living standards through small-scale infrastructure developments.
Funding is available to community groups across the Solomon Islands for projects such as constructing staff houses, toilet blocks, community water tanks, installing solar power for infrastructure, and building community halls. The program encourages joint funding of projects with Members of Parliament.
In 2024, Australia funded 100 community-level projects across all provinces in the Solomon Islands, contributing more than SBD 23.62 million to local hardware and transport businesses.
Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Rod Hilton, emphasized Australia’s commitment to supporting the Solomon Islands. “We are proud to support communities in delivering small-scale infrastructure projects,” Hilton said. “We’re also helping Solomon Islands businesses by purchasing materials and shipping services for these projects.”
The Australian High Commission is accepting applications for the 2025 round of funding until Sunday, March 23, 2025. For more information, interested parties can visit the Australian High Commission’s website at https://solomonislands.embassy.gov.au/honi/communitypartnerships.html.
