Vietnam and Solomon Islands explore tourism cooperation to boost sector growth and bilateral ties.
Vietnam’s position as a prominent tourist destination offers potential for the Solomon Islands to enhance its tourism sector through joint marketing efforts says Prime Minister, Jeremiah Manele.
Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele recently met with His Excellency Pham Hung Tam, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Solomon Islands. He said the collaboration could draw on Vietnam’s expertise in cultural, sea, and ecological tourism. During the meeting, both leaders discussed expanding cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, and tourism, recognizing the opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties.
Although trade relations between the two nations are currently limited, both countries expressed interest in exploring new avenues of collaboration, particularly in tourism, where Vietnam’s experience could benefit the Solomon Islands.
Additionally, both countries aim to increase people-to-people exchanges focusing on youth, culture, and education to foster mutual understanding.
The visit is seen as a significant step in strengthening Solomon Islands-Vietnam relations, which have been established since 1996.
