A delegation from the United States of America is in the country now. Dr. Kurt Campbell, the U.S National Security Council’s coordinator for Indo-Pacific affairs is leading the delegation on a Pacific tour and will be in Solomon Islands today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday). The delegation includes officials from the State Department, USAID, the Coast Guard and the Department of Defense. In Honiara, the delegation will meet with senior government officials and the opposition to reaffirm the US commitment to the bilateral relationship, mutual prosperity, and sovereignty. Campbell’s trip is part of ongoing efforts by the Biden administration to improve U.S. relations with Pacific island countries.
