Solomon Islands launches census reports from the 2019 Census consisting of Volumes One and Two.
The Solomon Islands Statistics Office has officially launched the 2019 Census reports, consisting of Volume One and Volume Two. Statistician Douglas Kimi celebrated this achievement as a significant milestone, as it marks the very first time that indigenous Solomon Islanders have successfully completed such a comprehensive endeavor. Kimi said under the guidance of Adviser Willie Lahari, the local staff were able to complete the compilation task of these reports.
Kimi stressed the importance of these Census reports for the nation, highlighting that the information they contain plays a vital role in effective planning and serves various purposes.
Finance Minister Harry Kuma has called upon organizations and the media to make the most of these documents as valuable references for their audiences. He further urged government ministries and agencies to integrate this data into their planning processes.
“I encourage everyone to review the reports, concentrating on sectors they are interested in and apply this data for business and strategic planning. In particular, I encourage crucial service delivery ministries like health, education, policing, and other productive sectors to incorporate this invaluable information into their planning endeavours, particularly to enhance service delivery nationwide,” Minister Kuma said.
The implementation of the census report project incurred a government expenditure of SBD$8 million.
