The Maravari Zion United Church youths and Men’s Fellowship group in South East Vella la Vella, Western Province, staged the annual Passion of Christ drama in front of hundreds of congregation members this afternoon, within the church premises.
The drama unfolded at the East entrance of the church compound and concluded at the main church area, drawing the attention of church members who had gathered to witness the performance.
Collaborating together, the youths and Men’s Fellowship group delivered a portrayal of the events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, central to the Easter story.
Led by Dudley Devese as the narrator, the youths enacted the crucifixion drama, engaging the audience in a presentation.
Chaplain Minister Rolland Mae of the United Church delivered a message to the Maravari congregation, reflecting on the significance of the seven last words of Jesus Christ on the cross:
- “Words of Forgiveness” – Luke 23:34
- “Words of Assurance” – Luke 23:43
- “Words of Concern” – John 19:26-27
- “Words of Longingness” – Matthew 27:46
- “Words of Suffering” – John 19:28
- “Words of Accomplishment” – John 19:30
- “Words of Dedication” – Luke 23:46
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mae highlighted the importance of these last words as a reminder to Christians during the Easter observance.
He expressed gratitude to the Maravari community for their participation in Easter and church activities, culminating this Sunday with the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
