Visa-Free Travel for 30 Days About to be Available for Ordinary Passport Holders.
The China-Solomon Islands Visa Exemption Agreement for citizens holding ordinary passports will take effect on December 28, 2024. This agreement allows citizens from both nations to travel without a visa for single visits of up to 30 days, provided the total stay does not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.
For longer stays or activities requiring special permits, such as employment, education, or media work, travelers must apply for the appropriate visa before their visit. Travelers unable to leave within the visa-exempt period due to unforeseen circumstances, such as force majeure, must apply for an extension with the relevant authorities.
The agreement builds on a 2022 visa arrangement that covered diplomatic, official, and service passports. Expanding the visa exemption to ordinary passport holders reflects the growing partnership between China and the Solomon Islands. Officials from both nations have welcomed the move, anticipating increased tourism, cultural exchanges, and business opportunities.
By simplifying travel procedures, the China-Solomon Islands Visa Exemption Agreement aims to strengthen bilateral relations while offering citizens greater convenience for personal and professional travel.
