Through APTC Training Essential To Support Reintegration of Returning PALM Workers
The Australian Government has rolled out a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering workers from the Pacific and Timor-Leste. Through the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), they’re providing subsidised microcredential courses to participants of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.
These online courses, customised to meet specific job demands, are accessible via laptops or mobile devices. Workers can learn at their own pace around their work schedules.
Nicki Baird, Executive Director of APTC, hails the program as a significant step forward in boosting workers’ career prospects saying the microcredentials offer practical skills directly relevant to their roles, facilitating professional growth.
Cara Philp, representing the Pacific Labour Facility (PLF), says such training for workers’ are essential for their reintegration upon returning home. She said these courses not only fill skill gaps but also aid in cultural and social adaptation.
