Honiara is currently seeing an increase of flu-like illnesses and malaria. Since 25 July 2022, the public health care systems are under pressure to cope with the increasing number of patients seeking medical attention.
At the National Referral Hospital, the Health Minister has declared it as in an ’emergency mode’. In the HCC Clinics, changes were made to the services provided for the public. As usual, both the clinics and national referral hospital are feeling the brunt of this outbreak.
Solomon Islanders are urged to stick to the general COVID-19 measures to help minimize the spread of the virus currently affecting Honiara and Auki residents. People are urged NOT to travel to the provinces if they have the flu or show flu-like symptoms.
