Government for National Unity and Transformation confident to lead and announces commitment to lead the country
The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) has announced its commitment to leading the country with solidarity and dedication, supported by a coalition of 29 elected Members of Parliament. This coalition, comprising representatives from the People First Party, Kadere Party, and OUR Party, says they aim to serve the interests of Solomon Islands and its citizens in the 12th Parliament.
The coalition agreement, signed by Caretaker Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga, Wing Leader of People First Party Frederick Koloqeto and Wing Leader for Kadere Party Jamie Vokia, emphasised the priority of serving the nation and its people. Emphasizing the importance of national interest, the coalition pledges to work closely with other stakeholders and foreign partners, guided by a “Friend to all, enemy to none” foreign policy.
Meanwhile Jeremiah Manele is ready and fully committed to serve the country and people of Solomon Islands as Prime Minister. The MP Elect for Hograno/Kia/ Havulei Jeremiah Manele announced his acceptance on the nomination made by Caretaker Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga, Lency Vokia and Frederick Kologeto on behalf of the Coalition for National Unity and Transformation.
“I am able and willing to carry on this awesome responsibility in leading our nation forward.” He stated. Manele acknowledged his nominators for having the trust in his candidacy. In accepting the nomination he said, “Unity and stability are not just abstract concepts; they are the very bedrock upon which nations are built”. He further stated that unity and stability form the cornerstone of a prosperous and resilient society where citizens can thrive and realize their full potential.
“Let us remember that unity and transformation are not mere ideals to aspire to, but essential ingredients for transforming a nation. For only when we stand united and steadfast can we build a future worthy of our collective dreams as our ancestors have dreamt of”. Manele further acknowledged the possible challenges that go with the responsibility.
