Japan supports marine conservation in Tiaro Bay

The marine environment is a vital source of life for Solomon Island coastal dwellers. A vast majority of Solomon Island communities are in the coastal area. The government’s ministry of fisheries has been supportive of communities in resource management and since 2017 have worked with the Tiaro Bay community in West Guadalcanal. With support also from the Japanese government, the Tiaro Bay community continued to strengthen conservation activities around the bay areas.
