Solomon Islands’ Celebrated Athlete Jenlyn Tegu Wini Named Flag Bearer for Team Solomon at XVII Pacific Games 2023 Opening Ceremony
Solomon Islands’ accomplished athlete, Jenlyn Tegu Wini, has been selected as the official flag bearer for Team Solomon during the XVII Pacific Games 2023 opening ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, November 18, 2023, at the National Stadium.
Wini, a prominent figure in Solomon Islands’ sports scene, has consistently served as the flag bearer since 2012, when she initially led Team Solomon in the Olympics and Pacific Games. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead her team in front of a home crowd exceeding 10,000 people, Wini acknowledges the significance of unity and mutual support throughout the two weeks of sporting events.
Reflecting on her experience representing the country in four previous Pacific Games, Wini is particularly enthusiastic about the 2023 Pacific Games, as it marks her first occasion representing her homeland.
The Opening Ceremony is set to take place at the newly constructed National Stadium within the Sports City complex, adjacent to King George Sixth School.
