MP Bradley Tovosia stresses importance of centering discussions on Solomon Islands’ issues during induction workshop
Bradley Tovosia, the Member of Parliament for East Guadalcanal, has stressed the importance of keeping the focus of the ongoing induction workshop on issues specific to Solomon Islands. Tovosia expressed concern that discussions should center around local challenges rather than focusing on other countries.
Tovosia voiced these concerns at the beginning of the workshop, highlighting the daily struggles faced by Solomon Islands MPs, including his own responsibility for providing meals to nearly 100 people every day within his household.
Responding to Tovosia’s comments, Aupito Tofae Su’a William Sio, a former parliamentarian from New Zealand, acknowledged the workshop’s focus on Solomon Islands while also drawing on shared experiences from other Pacific Island nations. He emphasized that MPs should prioritize making visionary decisions and policies aimed at benefiting future generations of Solomon Islanders, rather than focusing solely on current power dynamics.
