Young girls aged 18 to 26 are invited to express their interest by visiting Solomon Host’s office in Honiara
The Miss Solomon Islands Pageant is set to return from August 22 to 31 in Honiara, as officially announced by Event Planner Solomon Host. Young girls aged 18 to 26 are invited to express their interest by visiting Solomon Host’s office in Honiara.
The winner of this year’s pageant will earn the privilege of representing the Solomon Islands at the upcoming Miss Pacific Islands pageant, to be held in Honiara in February 2025.
Joyce Konofilia, Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Host, has extended an invitation for Solomon Islands girls residing outside the country to participate in this year’s pageant. Unlike previous years, contestants are expected to find their own sponsors. Konofilia emphasized that businesses, families and employers are encouraged to support eligible contestants. Sponsors are expected to spend up to $50,000 per contestant.
Prospective participants are also required to register with a fee of $5000.
Traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Miss Solomon Islands Pageant have over the past decade transitioned its planning and organizing to Solomon Host. Last year, the Solomon Islands did not host any Miss Solomon Islands Pageant.
The Miss Solomon Islands Pageant however stands as more than just a beauty competition. It has shaped the lives of numerous young women who have participated in the past. Tema Wickham, a former Miss Solomon Islands, attests to the profound impact the pageant has had on her life. She said it has contributed a lot to her personal growth and empowerment. Wickham encourages young Solomon Islands women to participate, saying they have nothing to lose and much to gain from the experience.
Tema represented Solomon Islands at the Miss Pacific Pageant when Solomon Islands was host in 2013.
