RSIPF Will Probe Once Referral from Auditor General is Received
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is currently awaiting the referral of the Economic Stimulus Package audit report from the Office of the Auditor General. Commissioner Mostyn Mangau in a press statement announced that the police force will begin its investigation once the report is received.
In May last year, the RSIPF and the Auditor General’s Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation on matters requiring investigation, including referrals for issues related to potential corruption and misconduct. This agreement formalises the process for sharing information and resources between the two offices while ensuring confidentiality.
Commissioner Mangau acknowledged the public’s calls for an immediate investigation into the ESP audit report but emphasised that these referrals can take time before reaching his office.
He assures the community that the investigation will commence as soon as the necessary documents are received.
