League to start August 11 while launch event and fundraising dinner set for this Saturday 27 July 2024 to raise funds and seek sponsors
The Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) has announced the start of the Men’s and Women’s Open Basketball League, scheduled to begin on Sunday, August 11, 2024. This announcement follows significant interest from 30 teams, which has prompted the SIBF to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of all participants before finalizing league details.
To provide all teams with sufficient time for final preparations, the SIBF has decided to postpone the league’s start by two weeks. This extension will allow clubs to refine their teams through additional training before the game schedule is finalized.
In anticipation of the league’s launch, the SIBF will host a formal event on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Cow Boys Bar and Grill Restaurant. The corporate dinner will officially inaugurate the league and aim to raise funds for the season’s management and administration. It will also serve as an opportunity for the SIBF to secure corporate sponsorship and support from governmental and non-governmental organizations.
