Immediate suspension follows safety assessment of runway conditions, prioritizing passenger and crew safety.
Solomon Airlines announced today that it has suspended all flights to and from Atoifi Airport. This decision follows an assessment by the airline’s Safety and Security Department, which determined that the current runway conditions do not meet its minimum safety standards.
In a statement, the airline emphasized its commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers, crew, and aircraft. Consequently, Solomon Airlines expressed regret for any inconvenience this suspension may cause; however, it reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the highest level of safety. As a result, all services to Atoifi Airport will remain suspended until further notice.
Furthermore, the airline’s team is actively reaching out to affected passengers to provide assistance and updates. Passengers can easily contact Solomon Airlines Reservations at 177 (within the Solomon Islands), email at reservations@flysolomons.com, or visit the Point Cruz Travel Center in Honiara for further inquiries.
In addition, Daniel Bugotu, the Manager of Safety at Solomon Airlines, stated, “Safety is our number one priority. We made this difficult decision to ensure the highest level of safety for our customers and crew. Moreover, our team maintains constant communication with the Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Solomon Islands (CAASI) to resolve this matter.”
Ultimately, the airline appreciates customers’ understanding and patience as it collaborates with relevant authorities to address the safety issues. Solomon Airlines will continue to keep the public informed about any developments regarding the resumption of services.
