Solomon Islands hands over Bina Harbour Business Case to ADFD for funding consideration and future projects
The Solomon Islands Government has formally handed over the ‘Bina Harbour Business Case’ to the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) for further consideration, as part of ongoing efforts to secure funding for major infrastructure projects in the country. This was discussed in a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele MP and ADFD Director-General Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi.
The meeting also focused on potential funding for the Dala-Atori Road Project, a significant infrastructure development in the Malaita Province. The project is seen as a crucial step in improving transportation and connectivity in the region.
Prime Minister Manele expressed gratitude on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government for ADFD’s support for the Tina Hydro Project, the country’s first large-scale renewable energy initiative, and emphasized the importance of international partnerships in achieving energy independence and building resilience.
In addition to these projects, the Prime Minister highlighted the Solomon Islands’ interest in exploring investment opportunities in tourism and other sectors to further strengthen bilateral relations with the ADFD.
His Excellency Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi expressed interest in supporting the country’s medium to long-term transformative infrastructure projects, including the Bina Harbour and Dala-Atori Road Projects.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of National Planning and Development Coordination Rexon Ramofafia, Member of Parliament for West Kwaio Claudius Teiífi, and Secretary to the Prime Minister Sir Dr. Jimmie Rodgers, among other officials. Solomon Islands Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Cornelius Walegerea, was also part of the delegation.
